About Dream Green
Dream Green is a pending non profit project for the purpose of reducing Hawaii's dependence on fossil fuel and to encourage green eco-tourism and eco-agriculture in Hawaii.
I have created this web site to bring together those who want the Big Island of Hawaii to be totally green, using 100% renewable energy sources and not relying on carbon based fuels for energy at all. If the Big Island could produce enough renewable energy it could possibly provide energy for all the Hawaiian Islands as well. This is a dream, but could be done if the right people get together and make it happen. It requires educating the people of Hawaii what is possible with renewable energy sources. The Big Island has the most renewable energy sources than just about any other spot on the globe chiefly because of geothermal energy but also because of wind, solar, waves, tidal power, OTEC, BioMass, and hydroelectric.
I am particularly interested in creating a hydrogen economy for Hawaii. Renewable energy can produce hydrogen with electrolysis without leaving behind a carbon print.
Getting together the best minds and resources together into a non profit organization is the way to go. Renewable energy sources should be untilized by a non profit organization so that the interests of preserving the island green stays in the best public interest rather than the interest being for profit. I have put together another non profit organization as a volunteer and have the experience. However, at this point I am still open to be persuaded by investors to change this cause to a for profit venture if such an investor contacts me before I register Dream Green with the State of Hawaii as a non profit corporation. Whoever donates or invests with this project first wins the decision. I prefer non profit since this seems the best way to go, but I am still open minded about this.
This will take some time since at this point I am doing this as a volunteer. It also takes money to set up a non profit organization. I worked part time for another non profit organization, the ARC of Hilo, as an employee for four years and eight months. I also engage in other volunteer work as a minister so that I can only devote so much of my money, time and energy to do this. I am hoping to be able to eventually spend more time on Dream Green if I receive some energy grants or enough donations.
Dream Green should also venture into green eco-tourism since the Hawaiian Islands are a tourist's paradise and many are interested in developing such 'green' tours.
Agriculture is another area that Dream Green should encourage since there is plenty of land on the Big Island to produce green agricultural. At one time Hawaii's economy was primarily agriculture and Dream Green would like to encourage a return to a larger agricultural economy and not have to rely on the tourism industry as much.
Renewable energy should be the source of all the transportation in the Hawaiian Islands.
If you are interested in helping contact me. If you care to donate that would be very helpful. The Mission Statement is still a work on progress and I am still open for suggestions.
